Roy was born in Throckley, west Newcastle. I met him in October 1959 when I started working at
Broughs Self Service on New Bridge Street, Newcastle.
I lived in Byker. We started courting in November 1960. Roy was fantastic,funny,witty and he made me
laugh so much. We were married on the 2nd of January 1965.Our life was a one full of laughter even
through the rough times.
We were married 9yrs and 6mths when our only child and son Paul was born, we were both ecstatic it
was like a miracle to us.
We were so happy,my sister-in-law called us the triangle,let no one try to come between us if they
dare. ha ha.
When Roy was diagnosed with lung cancer our son Paul left his home in Bromley and job at Kings
Hospital in London to spend time with his dad, he lives around the corner from me and has been my
rock along with my family and friends for me, I admire and love them all.
Roy was diagnosed with lung cancer at the beginning of October 2005 and given 6 months to live. He
was given loads of chemo and radio therapy which he sailed through. they were amazed at him in the
hospitals. Roy lived for 21 months.
Roy was a patient at the Freeman Hospital Newcastle.
everyone there is marvellous,Roy had his chemo,there.
There are 2 very special people,nurses Claire and Christine. Cancer Specialist Nurses, on the lung
cancer ward.
We got very close to them, I still keep in touch with them.
Roy was so funny,joking all the time, he sailed through chemo and then had radiotherapy at the
Newcastle General Hospital.
Roy's best mate Geordie often went with him when he got treatment, I felt sorry for the nurses, two
jokers at once.
A huge thankyou to all staff at the Newcastle Hospitals.
Roy did a wonderful thing, he donated himself to Medical Science to help train new surgeons for the
future. Roy was cremated on the 5th. of February 2008. I love him so much and always will, he will
never ever be forgotten. His wife Vivien, son Paul and Ruby his adorable cat.

Who had such foolish care,

Because they waited there.
Their thoughts were all so full of us,
